How to add an AI chat widget to Wix

Add the Deskdove AI chat assistant to your Wix site in 5 minutes with Settings > Custom Code. Step by step, from Wix's own help centre.

Wix adds third-party scripts through Custom Code in your site's dashboard. You paste the snippet once and it loads on every page.

Before you start: Wix says your site must be published and have a connected domain before you can add custom code. To connect a domain, Wix says you must first upgrade your site to a Premium plan.

Copy your snippet

Open Custom Code
In your Wix site's dashboard, go to Settings, then click Custom Code in the Development & integrations section.
Add the code
Click + Add Custom Code at the top right and paste the snippet into the text box. Give it a name you'll recognise, such as "Deskdove chat".
Choose all pages
Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages, and choose to load the code on each page your visitor opens, so the chat is on every page.
Place it at Body – end
Under Place Code in, choose Body – end. Then click Apply.
Publish
Custom code only runs on your published site, not in the Wix editor, so open your live site to check it.

Check it's working

Open your site in a private window
Use a private or incognito window so you see what a new visitor sees (and no old cache).
Look for the chat button
The chat launcher appears in the bottom corner of the page within a few seconds.
Send a test message
Open the chat and send a message, such as "Hi, this is a test".
See it in your Inbox
Open Inbox in your Deskdove portal. Your test chat shows up there straight away.

Wix links custom code to your domain: if you change your site's main domain, Wix deletes the snippet and you'll need to add it again.
